Para Nitrophenolate
Sodium 4-nitrophenolate also known as Sodium Salt of 4-Nitrophenol, NaPNP, or sodium salt of para nitrophenol is derived from 4-nitrophenol, belonging to the phenol family. It consists of a sodium ion (Na+) attached to the 4-nitrophenolate molecule, along with two water molecules (H2O) as hydrates. The chemical formula of sodium 4-nitrophenolate dihydrate is C6H4NO3Na·2H2O. This compound exhibits properties derived from 4-nitrophenol, sodium, and water. It appears as bright yellow to light brown crystals and is highly soluble in water. Sodium 4-nitrophenolate dihydrate possesses both the phenolic and ionic characteristics, combining the reactivity of the phenolate group (-O^-) with the stabilizing effects of the sodium ion. The presence of water molecules in the crystal structure contributes to its physical properties, such as solubility and stability.
